Using vehicle graphics for short-term promotional campaigns almost sounds counterintuitive, doesn’t it? Marketing promotional campaigns are usually shared via established media such as TV, radio, print ads, and digital marketing. Advertising a short-term promotion on a vehicle wrap—how would that work?
Using Vehicle Graphics for Short-term Promotional Campaigns
Vehicle graphics are usually considered to be a longer term means of branding, not a method to promote a new product, service, or sale. However, there are ways to use fleet graphics to announce the latest and greatest at any business. To begin with, many people don’t realize that short-term vehicle graphic materials are available.
Here’s what leading adhesive vinyl graphic manufacturer, 3M, shared about using short-term material in their article, What can changeable graphic films do for your fleet?
“Changeable films are a great option for fleets looking to apply and remove graphics quickly. Many fleets use changeable graphics for Short-term promotional campaigns such as seasonal campaigns, new product introductions, holiday promotions, or one-off company initiatives such as driver recruitment campaigns.”
Using Vehicle Graphics to Promote an Introductory or Special Offer
With changeable graphics, a business can promote short-term marketing campaigns such as a special introductory offer. Short-term promotions could include BOGO (buy one get one), free samples, limited-time offers, or free shipping.
Promoting a Contest with a Vehicle Wrap
Indianapolis, not-for-profit School on Wheels is an excellent example of promoting a contest with vehicle graphics. Local car dealership, Andy Mohr Toyota, donated a new Toyota Highlander Hybrid listed at $47,000 to the school. So, what do you do with a donated vehicle? School on Wheels had a great idea. Why not use the car to generate income for IndySOW initiatives? They held a raffle. Tickets were $100 with a maximum of 1,000 tickets offered. TKO Graphix wrapped the vehicle with a short-term changeable film, and when the winner of the vehicle took possession of the car, we removed the graphics in just a few minutes.
Use a Vehicle Wrap to Promote a Charitable Cause
In 2017, TKO Graphix president, Tom Taulman II participated in Real Men Wear Pink Hendricks County. His goal was to raise $2,500. He exceeded it by more than $7,500. Thanks to the commitment from team TKO and our customers’ help, Tom raised more than $10,000 and wrapped his ride in all pink! And yes, the wrap was a short-term temporary wrap.
Using Vehicle Wraps to Support Calls to Action
My favorite example of a call to action wrap is from IMTA (Indiana Motor Trucking Association). The IMTA wrapped a full 53-foot trailer with more than 50 sponsors asking for Indiana drivers to support anti-distracted driving legislation. The Indiana Motor Truck Association shared this about the initiative, “Help us keep Indiana drivers safe on the road. With the rise of the IMTA license plate renewals and sales, heads will turn (from looking at a phone while driving) to see the “PUT THE PHONE DOWN” plate on Indiana vehicles and motorcycles. The BMV has sold or renewed a record 3,735 plates as of November 2018. Thank you for believing in the IMTA and being a part of this important message.”
The good news is – it worked. The Indiana legislature passed a law making distracted driving a criminal offense.
