TKO Graphix has enjoyed a working relationship with Lucas Oil Raceway at Indianapolis, for several years. The relationship is more than professional – these are good people, working hard to present an outstanding entertainment experience. This isn’t an easy task in the town known as, “The Racing Capitol of the World,” but they do it. Furthermore, Lucas Oil Raceway at Indianapolis is partly why Indy is known for racing. The annual Mac Tools NHRA Nationals is the longest running, most prestigious, drag racing event in the world!

How Did It Start?

In 1958, Tom Binford, Roger Ward, and 17 others, each invested $5,000 to purchase 267 acres and develop a 2.5 mile, 15-turn road course. The ¼ mile drag strip and the .686 mile oval were almost after-thoughts. NHRA founder, Wally Parks, brought the nationals to the raceway in 1960. A.J. Foyt won the first oval race in 1961, and it hasn’t slowed down since.

What’s The Next Big Event?

The next big event is the Kroger SpeedFest in late July; however, there is racing every week, along with other events. Here’s what Lucas Oil Raceway at Indianapolis has to say about the SpeedFest:

“The 2011 Kroger SpeedFest will take place on July 28th , 29th  and 30th, and will feature three nights of racing under the lights on the .686 mile oval. On Thursday, July 28th, the USAC Midget, Silver Crown and ARCA series will take to the track during the Thursday Night Triple Header. Past winners of this exciting open wheel race include A. J. Foyt, Tony Stewart, Jeff Gordon and Ryan Newman. On Friday, the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series will bump and bang all the way to victory lane. The weekend concludes with the 30th annual Kroger 200, NASCAR Nationwide Series race. Past winners have included Jason Leffler, Brian Vickers, Dale Earnhardt Jr., and Greg Biffle.”
