This Geico Local Kia Soul Wrap Works!

I like this Geico local Kia Soul wrap – a lot. However, there are a couple of things I like even more than the wrap. And one of them is the background of our new local Geico insurance agent, Jamie Walton. To begin with, Mr. Walton is a 12-year veteran of the United States Marine Corps, as Jamie says, “I take pride in helping our military and veterans however I can. My team understands the unique circumstances of those who serve our nation, and we specialize in advising them on their insurance needs.”

Secondly, he wants to give back to the community. “Although I’m new to the Indianapolis area, I can’t wait to get involved in local community events and sponsorship opportunities. I have a huge passion for music and sponsored different high school marching bands back in New Jersey, where I recently moved from.” (Did I mention I play in a weekend rock & roll band?) He went on to share, “I love getting involved in all sorts of community music festivals, especially those that bring together people from different backgrounds.” So, do I Jamie. So, do I.

And the third thing is the Geico local Kia Soul wrap is a great deal. I recently purchased a 2016 Kia Soul, and I love it. It had 8500 miles on it when I bought it, and I’ve put two thousand more on the odometer. I’ve driven it enough to know that I like my Kia Soul. Two of the reasons I bought a Soul are there’s enough room for all my band equipment, and it’s a manual shift – not easy to find in today’s market.

So, welcome Jamie to you and your family. We look forward to meeting you. Hopefully, we’ll catch up at a music event.

The Geico Local Kia Soul Wrap

This wrap is fun. F – U – N. It starts out up front wrapped in light blue which morphs into a scene with the Geico Gecko. How can anyone not like that? The Geico Gecko immediately draws attention to the vehicle and then the wrap shares contact information as well as services that are both easy to find and to read. The Geico local Kia Soul wrap that gets the job done.

What Does Geico Indy Offer?

Midwest Bale Ties Box Truck Wrap is Awesome

While roaming the halls of TKO Graphix, I walked into the installation bay. A box truck in the process of a full wrap drew me to it. It was the Midwest Bale Ties Box truck wrap.  Something about the design caught my eye, so I walked over to it and chatted with our team of installers. It was the Midwest Bale Ties box truck wrap.  The

The Midwest Bale Ties Box Truck Wrap is Awesome

What pulled me to the Midwest Bale Ties box truck wrap was the overall design. The layout uses the Midwest Bale Ties logo, same as on their website. The background enhances the logo. Too often we see backgrounds that take away from the logo and the message. Not this one – it adds to it.

Directly below the logo is the website URL. It’s in plain sight and big enough be seen by a passing farmer on interstate I 70. Behind the logo are rolls of box and baling wire and then a red swoop separates a scattering of bale ties with the phone number (local and toll) under that. This wrap works!

The Do’s and Don’ts of Vehicle Graphics Maintenance

So, what are the do’s and don’ts of vehicle graphics maintenance? To begin with, keep it clean. If your wrapped vehicle looks dirty – wash it. Don’t wait until someone writes “wash me” with their index finger on the hood of your car. Yes, your wrap looks better when it’s clean but what’s more important is that dirt and debris contain contaminants that can damage your wrap. Some pollutants directly affect the adhesive vinyl while others become difficult to remove the longer they’re attached to the wrap. In either case, it’s important to clean away the dirt, debris, and contaminants ASAP. Here are a few do’s and don’ts of vehicle graphics maintenance.

The Do’s and Don’ts of Vehicle Graphics Maintenance

How to Clean Your Wrap

Use non-abrasive cleaning solutions, good old-fashioned soap and water works as well as anything. Stay away from brushes, scrubbing sponges, and abrasive cloths. You can’t go wrong with microfiber. After cleaning thoroughly, rinse with a hose at low pressure, and then wipe dry with a microfiber cloth. You can also use a silicon squeegee to dry the vehicle.

“Soften difficult contaminants such as bug splatter, bird droppings, tree sap, and similar contaminants by soaking them for several minutes with hot, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry. If further cleaning is needed, test one of these products in an inconspicuous area to ensure no damage to the graphics: Meguiar’s Gold Class™ Bug and Tar Remover or 3M™ Citrus Base Cleaner. Isopropyl alcohol (IPA) (two parts IPA to 1-part water) or denatured alcohol may also help. Spot clean the contaminants. Do not use rough scrubbing or abrasive tools, which will scratch the film. Wash and rinse off all residue immediately.” — 3M Caring for your Vehicle Graphics.

What About Automated Car Washes?

Do NOT use automated car washes with brushes as they may damage the wrap. Most brushless car washes are acceptable. When hand washing, use a non-abrasive soft liquid soap and rinse thoroughly. Here’s more, FAQ: Can I take my Wrapped Vehicle Through a Car Wash?

Should I Wax My Wrap?

Probably not, there are waxes created specifically for wraps. However, there is very little advantage to applying wax to a vinyl wrap, and a waxy build-up can create problems.

Adding a protective wax finish to paint may protect it from exposure, but it doesn’t help vinyl — it may even damage it. In this PDF, Caring For Your Vehicle Graphics and Wraps, 3M explains:

  • Do not use abrasive polishes or cutting compounds.
    • Do not use any polishing or wax products on matte or textured films.
    • If there is wax or waxy residue on the surface, remove with an all-purpose cleaner.

If your vehicle is a partial wrap or has decals, you’ll want to wax the exposed painted surfaces, but be careful to keep the wax away from the graphics and remove any build up from the edges.

Two reasons to wrap a vehicle are to protect the surface and to make it look its best. Both of these are accomplished without wax, so relax and enjoy your ride. Save the wax-on, wax-off routine for others.

What Message Are Your Fleet Vehicles Sending?

Vehicular cleanliness is good business. The other day I saw a food trucked parked in a lot. It was open for business, but no one was in line. It could have been the time of day, or it could have been that the truck was dirty. What kind of a message does a filthy food truck send? However, it’s not only unwashed food trucks that send a bad message but also any dirt stained branded company vehicle. Regardless of your business, a dirty fleet is not a good message to send. Here’s another example, A Bad Message is Worse Than no Message.

What about Cleaning Window Graphics?

Window graphics should be handled with great care. The best way to clean window graphics is with a squeegee. With rear window graphics avoid or limit the use of a rear wiper. The wiper blades can eventually damage the vinyl. Also, limit the use of the rear defroster, the heat against the cold glass can lead to delamination and separation of the adhesive from the glass. Never, ever, never use an ice scraper on window graphics. And as far as side windows, keep in mind continued opening and closing of windows can lead the vinyl graphics to become frayed at the edges.

More Do’s and Don’ts of Vehicle Graphics Maintenance

  • Always read labels on solvents and cleaners before using them on your wrapped vehicle
  • It’s best to test any cleaning solution as well as cloths on a small part of the wrap, preferably a spot that’s out of sight
  • If you have time after washing your vehicle, let it air dry
  • Do not leave fuel spills on your wrap. It’s best to clean them immediately rather than let them go and then forget about it
  • Do not use water above 75 degrees F. It’s best to stay between 65 and 75 F.
  • Avoid pressure washers and with any hose stay below 800 PSI
  • Do spot clean difficult areas with isopropyl alcohol and a microfiber cloth
  • Do clean from the top down allowing the dirty water to run down and away
  • Before using a soft sponge or cloth to clean the wrap soak it in a water and soap mixture
  • Never use cutting compounds
  • Whenever possible store your vehicle indoors or if the vehicle is stored outdoors place a protective covering over it.

Keeping your wrapped vehicles clean not only sends a positive message about your brand and business, but it also protects them from UV damage, environmental pollutants such as smog and acidic rain, as well as petroleum products that when left to fester can eat away vinyl graphics.

10 Uses for Retractable Banners

There are more than 10 uses for retractable banners, many more. However, these 10 uses for retractable banners top our list.

A friend called the day before Independence Day. She’s hosting a marketing event and asked about retractable banners, “Digital Toolbox is a half-day conference of speakers, panels, and networking conversations for business owners and marketing practitioners.” — Digital Toolbox Conference. She inquired about graphics for her event, and the first thing she mentioned was retractable banners. Makes sense, doesn’t it? Here are 10 uses for retractable banners you may not have considered.

10 Uses for Retractable Banners

Retractable Banners are Adaptable

There are more like 100 uses for retractable banners that I could list in the post, but that would be overkill. So, I’m going to stick with my top ten, but keep in mind any event that people are invited to attend can be enhanced with retractables.

Trade Shows

It’s hard to imagine a trade show booth without retractable banners. But not only booths, a trade show without retractables used for wayfinding, information sharing, and announcements is a show that is missing something.

Job Fairs

Our HR department attends and often set up a table at job fairs. A retractable banner highlighting the TKO Graphix company story as well as opportunities always travels with them.

Open Houses

Since I’ve been with TKO Graphix, we’ve held two open houses and several other events including hosting Vice President Pence on a roundtable with small business owners. We strategically placed banners at each of these events.

Conferences

The last conference I spoke at was the Dayton WordCamp but think back to the most recent conference you attended. How many retractable banners do you recall? One, two, five, a dozen?

Local Fairs

If you’re trying to connect with a local community, why not set up at a local fair? Bring a table, chair, brochures, and a retractable banner or two, and you’re open for business.

Performances

As some of you may know I’m a member of a weekend rock and roll band, Under the Radar, (shhh don’t tell anyone we’re keeping it a secret). Guess what we use to share our name at performances?

Churches

Retractable banners used at church events are outstanding because they can be reused time and time again.

Charities

This year TKO Graphix has sponsored several charitable events including more than one golf outing as an associate sponsor, and of course, we’ve donated a few retractable banners.

Product Introductions

What better way to share information at a product launch than with a retractable banner.

Retractable Banners Rock!

As I said earlier, the uses for retractable banners are almost unlimited. Anytime you want to promote your business, product, or an event, retractable banners add to the marketing campaign. They’re easy to use, convenient to transport, and can be used more than once. If you’d like to learn more about retractable banners, Contact Us.

Low Cost Spay and Neuter Clinic Van Wrap

The Low Cost Spray and Neuter Clinic van wrap is one of more than 50,000 trucks, trailers, box trucks, vans, and utility trucks we wrapped last year. And although every one of our customers is important to us, some are special. This van wrap was one of the special ones. Because the story this Low Cost Spay and Neuter Clinic van wrap shares is essential. Why is that? Rather than for me to try to explain, I’ll let the experts with this infographic from Low Cost Spay and Neuter Clinic.

Pet Overpopulation

Each year, six to eight million animals are sent to shelters, and roughly 50 percent are later euthanized. By providing high quality spay and neuter services, we aim to reduce the number of euthanized animals caused by pet overpopulation. We believe a pet owner’s inability to afford sterilization services should not be the cause of an unwanted litter.

What is Low Cost Spay and Neuter Mission?

“At Low Cost Spay Neuter Clinic, we provide both affordable sterilization surgeries and vaccines for cats and dogs, helping to reduce the unwanted pet population and promote animal health and safety to the community. By taking the lead in public education to influence responsible pet owner behaviors, we will improve the health and well-being of the animals we interact with.”

But Why Do They Need a Van?

Why do they need a van? That’s a great question and an even better story. “The pet overpopulation problem in Indiana and our nation as a whole has no borders. To extend our impact beyond our Brownsburg and Noblesville locations, we started the Spay/Neuter Transport Program to reach underserved counties in Indiana. Most notably, we’ve brought our services to Marion, Hancock, Shelby, Carroll, Johnson, Madison, Carroll, Boone, Clinton, Tippecanoe, Montgomery and Delaware counties, where local pet owners are otherwise lacking low-cost spay and neuter options.

We partner with local animal advocates to recruit patients in these underserved areas and then schedule a pick-up date and location for transport. As of 2017 we have transported 12,398 cats and dogs for their spay/neuter surgery. Our numbers are steadily increasing” — Low Cost Spay Neuter Clinic

How Can Anyone Not Find Low Cost Spay and Neuter Clinic Van Wrap Adorable?

Seriously, this van wrap is adorable. Unless of course, you hate pets. AT TKO Graphix we support our local Humane Society here’s an example, Dogs Vs. Cats Challenge. It was a privilege to be a small part of Low Cost Spay and Neuters transport program. And just look at those sweet eyes staring right back at you. I’m a cat person, but that dog’s pretty darn cute as well! The entire wrap tells a story, the animals grab your eye, and “We Transport” captures your attention. The contact information, phone and web address are front and center. This van works and so does the wrap.

Brown County Vacation Home Wrap

I love this Brown County Vacation Home wrap. From the time I was able to get a license to ride a motorcycle in Indiana (back then you could ride a motorcycle on a learners permit at 15-years-old.) I spent time in Brown County. Visiting Brown County in the fall was just something you did. The local college I attended in Indianapolis closed the school every October 15th and headed south for Brown County Day. As the years went by, I visited less and less. I had other responsibilities and interests. However, Brown County in the fall holds a special place in my heart. The thing is, the Brown County Vacation Home wrap brought back a flood of memories for me.

Just One Look

After viewing the Brown County Vacation Home wrap, I wrote down the website and took a look. Brown Country Vacation Homes is exactly what its name implies. It’s homes (and more) that can be rented in Brown County. As I looked at the offerings, my head began to spin. Wouldn’t it be great to rent a home next fall?

Or think about this. How about a destination vacation in Brown County? For example, The Allison Inn, built by the Allison family in 1876 can be rented out for you and your guests’ special occasion. “Nestled in the gentle rolling hills of Southern Indiana, Brown County is unique offering large gasping views, and worlds apart from the hustle and bustle of daily life. The Allison House Inn is the perfect complement to the quiet charm of this scenic area. With a mood and decor reflecting the relaxed lifestyle of its innkeepers, each of the Inn’s seven rooms is individually decorated with an emphasis on coziness, comfort, and charm.”

The Brown County Vacation Home Wrap

Like I said, the Brown County Vacation Home wrap is breathtaking. It captures the beauty and majesty of Brown County State Park’s rolling hills in the autumn. I’ve preached for years that with vehicle graphics simple is not only the most effective way to share a message, but when formatted by professionals simple is elegant. That’s what this wrap accomplishes. The colorful foliage and bright leaves floating off the van grab attention, and the name and contact information are easy to find. It’s the perfect wrap. It’s eye-catching, and at the same time, it sends a message.

Who Is Brown County Vacation Homes?

“Brown County Vacation Homes is not the least expensive option but offers you the best upscale vacation experience providing you with lots of amenities onsite and package/attraction options way in advance to plan the perfect getaway.  You will love working with our Tourism Director, Hannah Shields, prior to your arrival to make sure your experience is a memorable one.” —  Brown County Vacation Homes.

How to Proof Your Vehicle Graphics Layout so it Doesn’t Cost You Time and Money

This post, How to Proof Your Vehicle Graphics Layout so it Doesn’t Cost You Time and Money was born when I asked TKO Graphix sales, design, and customer service staff for helpful advice that TKO might offer customers. One topic suggested by several members of the sales team was how to proof your vehicle graphics layout.

It seems too often, customers take a quick or incomplete look at the layout, and then sign off on it. If there’s a mistake, and TKO doesn’t catch it — that’s a problem. A provider, such as TKO Graphix, may find errors, but if it has to do with color, style, or content, the customer is the best person to review the information. Here are a few key points on how to proof your vehicle graphics layout.

How to Proof Your Vehicle Graphics Layout 7 Check Points

Is it the right vehicle?

Seriously, this is often overlooked and can be a major disruption causing delays and cost overruns. For example, are there variations of your vehicle on the layout such as, extended cab, crew, or regular.

So, a good place to begin on how to proof your vehicle graphics layout is checking the vehicle. Do serial numbers match? Do they have the correct year, model, and package? If it isn’t a full wrap is the color of the vehicle correct?

Please, do not underestimate the importance of checking this. I can’t tell you the number of prospects that have come to us for help because another provider printed graphics for their extended cab that wasn’t an extended cab. So, be certain the right vehicle template was used for your design. Proof your vehicle graphics layout by proofing the vehicle!

Look at All Sides of the Vehicle

To properly proof your vehicle graphics layout you have to check every view. Check every side of the vehicle, front, rear, and both sides. Check to see how the graphics are aligned. Do they fit the space? Is it the message you want to send and does it fulfill your purpose? Imagine the vehicle on the highway or parked at your shop, what kind of impression does it make? Before signing off be certain that the design works from every view of your fleet vehicle, because what good does a vehicle wrap do if a potential customer see’s only one side of your car or truck and the side they see doesn’t have your contact information?

Colors

Are your businesses branded colors being used? Be sure to not only check the color on your logo, but also on the background, foreground, and fonts. “When choosing colors for your vehicle graphics, it may not be what color, but how colors of both the vehicle and your graphics contrast. Using poorly contrasted colors reduces the impact of vehicle advertising. Poorly chosen hues, designs that hide the message, and colors that don’t match your brand waste your marketing dollars. One should first consider the brand, logo, and vehicle colors.” — What Color Should I Wrap My Business Vehicle?

Copy

Is the content what you want and is it grammatically correct? A misspelled word or misplaced apostrophe can ruin a vehicle graphic and hurt your brand. I saw a sign the other day that omitted the last digit of the business’s phone number. I wonder who proofed that layout.

Too much copy creates a problem. A vehicle graphic isn’t the place to attempt to advertise every product and service you offer, share your complete company history, and place 10 quotes from satisfied customers.

Materials

Do you understand the adhesive vinyl being used and does the material fit the purpose of your vehicle graphics? For example, “Cast, or premium vinyl, is a process similar to making a cake. Ingredients are mixed and solvents are added, and then poured into a casting sheet, which is baked, allowing the solvents to evaporate. This process makes a very flexible, thin, shrink-resistant material. Another manufacturing option is the calendar or economy process. In this method, ingredients are mixed, and then solvents aren’t added. Like pizza dough, the vinyl is rolled and stretched into the desired shape. This material is thicker and having been stretched, it tends to shrink.” — Are There Different Vinyl Graphics Materials?

Cast vinyl is best suited for full and partial wraps. It’s manufactured to be able to be stretched around complex curves whereas as calendar, or economy vinyl, isn’t. While economy vinyl may be appropriate for flat surface  applications it can lead to problems when used for more demanding installations.

Fonts

Does the font fit the style guide of your organization and is it easy to read? Is it the best size? “Any combination of font style, size, and color can and will affect the readability of vehicle graphics. The key to effective fleet graphic design is combining appearance with legibility. There are too many designs, which although visually striking, are difficult to decipher, which detracts from the purpose of vehicle advertising.” — What’s the Best Font for Vehicle Graphics?

Hierarchy

Is top billing given to your most important message? Are your priorities in line? “Before setting vehicle graphic design hierarchy in order, an organization must consider what messages take precedence, what is the hierarchy of your messages? What do you want to communicate and what do you want people to understand about your business.” —  Vehicle Graphic Design Hierarchy

Other Points to Consider

  • Do not sign and therefore approve a layout until every member of your team who has the authority to approve or disapprove the layout has reviewed it. Unfortunately, we’ve experienced producing an approved layout to learn a senior executive didn’t like it and wanted it changed.
  • Measure twice cut once. Don’t take a quick look at the layout and sign off. Take your time and review it completely and then review it again. It also might help to have others on your team proof it as well.

Don’t Sign Off Early

When a vehicle graphics provider sends a layout to a customer for approval, the sales and design team are asking, “Does this meet your expectations?” You should be certain it is what you want.

“Graphic design is a collaborative effort between designer and client. The client wants his vision brought to life through your talents, and it’s important to him that he gets what he wants.” —Sign Craft Magazine

When a layout is signed and approved, the design goes into production. Changes after a layout has gone into production can be costly and time-consuming.

When clients don’t take the time to thoroughly check and double check the layout, mistakes can happen. Before signing off on a layout, take enough time to check and recheck the seven points above, and then get the okay from everyone on your team who is involved. Hendricks Regional Health Community Paramedicine Wrap is a Life Saver

Here at TKO, we appreciate everything that Hendricks Regional Health does for the community. HGH is a lot more than outstanding medical facilities and a network of some of the best physicians in the state. They offer wellness programs including screening and scans, health and fitness classes (even yoga!) and information from childbirth e-Learning to living with diabetes. They are a part of the community, and community paramedicine is part of what they offer.

 What is Community Paramedicine?

“Imagine you or a loved one falls in your home, and there’s an injury, but it’s not an emergency. Or maybe you need help with oxygen therapy because you’re managing a chronic illness, but you can’t get to the hospital. What do you do?

Community paramedicine is for these types of situations. It connects you with the care you need when medical attention is required, but there isn’t an emergency. Community paramedics can come right to your home, and typically provide health assessments, therapy, assistance with medication and other services. This not only eases the burden on emergency medical services, but it also brings social service and healthcare professionals directly to you.” — Hendricks Regional Health Community Paramedicine

The Hendricks Regional Health Community Paramedicine Wrap

Unlike many organizational vehicles wraps the Hendricks Regional Health van isn’t cluttered with information. There’s no need for it. Detailed copy and multiple images would get in the way of identifying this vehicle. But, there’s more to it than a simple wrap. This vehicle graphic stands out. The brilliant bright green outlined in black flows from front to rear. It almost looks as if it’s moving when it’s sitting still. Even parked you can tell it’s ready for action. Finished off with the door decal including the branded H and Community Paramedics there’s no doubt the purpose of this vehicle. Overall the design inspires confidence. And isn’t that what you want from a Community Paramedic vehicle?

What Do Community Paramedics Do?

Probably the most familiar responsibility of community paramedics is emergency services – strokes, heart attacks, loss of consciousness, broken bones, allergic reactions and more. However, as much as paramedics are known for their emergency heroics, that’s only part of what they do. Paramedics also conduct in-home assessments, draw blood for labs, offer oxygen therapy, and much much more. Hendricks Regional Health Community Paramedicine is an invaluable part of the community in dozens of ways.
