The American Cancer Society estimates there will be 1,685,210 new cases of cancer in America by the end of 2016. Of those cases, 595,690 will be fatal. — Cancer Facts and Figures 2016. Keep in mind these are new cases not preexisting. Cancer touches almost everyone, and if it hasn’t touched you, the chances are it will.

At TKO Graphix many of our team members have been touched by cancer. We asked team members if they’d like to share their story by answering a few questions. Here’s Sarah’s story about her mother.

Who are you honoring?

My mama, Tammy Teglas

(In case you’re wondering, Sarah told us the Cheeseburger phone would mean something to her mother.)

What story would you like to share?

One of my favorite memories of my mom is when she had to watch my son Bryce, who was very young, while she was sick from chemotherapy. This shows how strong she is. At that age, he was into EVERYTHING and very curious. As she didn’t feel well, she needed him to stay cuddled up on the couch with her so every time he hopped down, she said “Montour!” (Monster) and he would hop back on the couch. Ha-ha! He stayed cuddled up with his Nana all day.

What does participating in Real Men Wear Pink mean to you?

I have been at TKO for a little over four years and have seen us do many fundraisers. This by far has been my favorite. I have loved seeing Tommy (TKO Graphix president Tom Taulman II) wearing pink every day and seeing him drive a pink car. In addition, I absolutely love the employee participation, especially during the soup and chili cook-offs. It brings us all together for such a good cause.

What would you like to add?

My mom is my best friend. I cannot imagine my life without her. I am so glad she is in remission, but I wish our family could catch a (health break). My Uncle Scott is currently battling cancer. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers.
