So, what does your truck say about you? Whether you’re an independent owner/operator, a dedicated fleet, or a transportation company, image matters. Your trucks and fleet vehicles send a message. What kind of message is up to you. Equipment – including vehicles in need of maintenance, clean up, or repair send a negative message, and especially when you consider that a branded vehicle is seen 30,000 to 70,000 per day! (Why Haven’t You Wrapped Your Company Vehicles?) When you think about how many of those 30,000 or more impressions are potential or current customers the negative effect of a poorly maintained fleet vehicle becomes clear.  So, what does your truck say about you?

What Does Your Truck Say About You

Clean, well-maintained equipment makes an immediate impression and shows pride. People assume pride carries over into other areas of an organization. The opposite is also true. Equipment in need of attention can and will impact your business negatively.

Even a clean, well maintained vehicle might miss the opportunity to say something about who you are, what you do, and how you do it. Is your logo readable? Do you present a branded company image with your fleet graphics? Are you advertising on your vehicles or is it only identification?

“People can always find reasons to avoid taking action, to delay making a decision. However, there is almost no good reason not to advertise on organizational vehicles. Maybe if the vehicle is temporary or being replaced — just maybe, or if a company has no marketing budget. If a business does have a marketing budget vehicle graphics are one of the most cost effective methods of adverting.” — No Excuse NOT to Advertise on Your Vehicles

Take a walk in you customer’s shoes?

Try this exercise: Take a minute to look at your truck like a customer. What do you see? Do you see an image that shows pride? Is your message clear? If that’s not what you see, then it’s time for a makeover.

“So, what would you see if you looked at your fleet graphics from your customer’s point of view? It doesn’t matter if your business is a B2C (Business to Consumer) such as, a retail outlet, B2B (Business to Business) for example, a service provider, or a not-for-profit charitable organization — visitors judge your organization by its appearance and your cars and trucks are part of who you are.” — Looking at Your Fleet Graphics from the Customers Point of View

“A white paper shared by the ATA (American Trucking Association) Vehicle Branding: Is There Hidden Value in Your Fleet? discovered that 75% of people developed a first impression about a company and its products from truck advertising. Furthermore, an impressive 91% of people stated that they not only noticed adverts on the side of trucks, but could also remember them days later. Most importantly, however, the survey revealed that almost a third of people would base a buying decision on the impression they got from vehicle advertisements.” — Vehicle Graphics: How to Achieve Maximum Branding on Wheels
