Brown County Vacation Home Wrap

I love this Brown County Vacation Home wrap. From the time I was able to get a license to ride a motorcycle in Indiana (back then you could ride a motorcycle on a learners permit at 15-years-old.) I spent time in Brown County. Visiting Brown County in the fall was just something you did. The local college I attended in Indianapolis closed the school every October 15th and headed south for Brown County Day. As the years went by, I visited less and less. I had other responsibilities and interests. However, Brown County in the fall holds a special place in my heart. The thing is, the Brown County Vacation Home wrap brought back a flood of memories for me.

Just One Look

After viewing the Brown County Vacation Home wrap, I wrote down the website and took a look. Brown Country Vacation Homes is exactly what its name implies. It’s homes (and more) that can be rented in Brown County. As I looked at the offerings, my head began to spin. Wouldn’t it be great to rent a home next fall?

Or think about this. How about a destination vacation in Brown County? For example, The Allison Inn, built by the Allison family in 1876 can be rented out for you and your guests’ special occasion. “Nestled in the gentle rolling hills of Southern Indiana, Brown County is unique offering large gasping views, and worlds apart from the hustle and bustle of daily life. The Allison House Inn is the perfect complement to the quiet charm of this scenic area. With a mood and decor reflecting the relaxed lifestyle of its innkeepers, each of the Inn’s seven rooms is individually decorated with an emphasis on coziness, comfort, and charm.”

The Brown County Vacation Home Wrap

Like I said, the Brown County Vacation Home wrap is breathtaking. It captures the beauty and majesty of Brown County State Park’s rolling hills in the autumn. I’ve preached for years that with vehicle graphics simple is not only the most effective way to share a message, but when formatted by professionals simple is elegant. That’s what this wrap accomplishes. The colorful foliage and bright leaves floating off the van grab attention, and the name and contact information are easy to find. It’s the perfect wrap. It’s eye-catching, and at the same time, it sends a message.

Who Is Brown County Vacation Homes?

“Brown County Vacation Homes is not the least expensive option but offers you the best upscale vacation experience providing you with lots of amenities onsite and package/attraction options way in advance to plan the perfect getaway.  You will love working with our Tourism Director, Hannah Shields, prior to your arrival to make sure your experience is a memorable one.” —  Brown County Vacation Homes.

How to Proof Your Vehicle Graphics Layout so it Doesn’t Cost You Time and Money

This post, How to Proof Your Vehicle Graphics Layout so it Doesn’t Cost You Time and Money was born when I asked TKO Graphix sales, design, and customer service staff for helpful advice that TKO might offer customers. One topic suggested by several members of the sales team was how to proof your vehicle graphics layout.

It seems too often, customers take a quick or incomplete look at the layout, and then sign off on it. If there’s a mistake, and TKO doesn’t catch it — that’s a problem. A provider, such as TKO Graphix, may find errors, but if it has to do with color, style, or content, the customer is the best person to review the information. Here are a few key points on how to proof your vehicle graphics layout.

How to Proof Your Vehicle Graphics Layout 7 Check Points

Is it the right vehicle?

Seriously, this is often overlooked and can be a major disruption causing delays and cost overruns. For example, are there variations of your vehicle on the layout such as, extended cab, crew, or regular.

So, a good place to begin on how to proof your vehicle graphics layout is checking the vehicle. Do serial numbers match? Do they have the correct year, model, and package? If it isn’t a full wrap is the color of the vehicle correct?

Please, do not underestimate the importance of checking this. I can’t tell you the number of prospects that have come to us for help because another provider printed graphics for their extended cab that wasn’t an extended cab. So, be certain the right vehicle template was used for your design. Proof your vehicle graphics layout by proofing the vehicle!

Look at All Sides of the Vehicle

To properly proof your vehicle graphics layout you have to check every view. Check every side of the vehicle, front, rear, and both sides. Check to see how the graphics are aligned. Do they fit the space? Is it the message you want to send and does it fulfill your purpose? Imagine the vehicle on the highway or parked at your shop, what kind of impression does it make? Before signing off be certain that the design works from every view of your fleet vehicle, because what good does a vehicle wrap do if a potential customer see’s only one side of your car or truck and the side they see doesn’t have your contact information?

Colors

Are your businesses branded colors being used? Be sure to not only check the color on your logo, but also on the background, foreground, and fonts. “When choosing colors for your vehicle graphics, it may not be what color, but how colors of both the vehicle and your graphics contrast. Using poorly contrasted colors reduces the impact of vehicle advertising. Poorly chosen hues, designs that hide the message, and colors that don’t match your brand waste your marketing dollars. One should first consider the brand, logo, and vehicle colors.” — What Color Should I Wrap My Business Vehicle?

Copy

Is the content what you want and is it grammatically correct? A misspelled word or misplaced apostrophe can ruin a vehicle graphic and hurt your brand. I saw a sign the other day that omitted the last digit of the business’s phone number. I wonder who proofed that layout.

Too much copy creates a problem. A vehicle graphic isn’t the place to attempt to advertise every product and service you offer, share your complete company history, and place 10 quotes from satisfied customers.

Materials

Do you understand the adhesive vinyl being used and does the material fit the purpose of your vehicle graphics? For example, “Cast, or premium vinyl, is a process similar to making a cake. Ingredients are mixed and solvents are added, and then poured into a casting sheet, which is baked, allowing the solvents to evaporate. This process makes a very flexible, thin, shrink-resistant material. Another manufacturing option is the calendar or economy process. In this method, ingredients are mixed, and then solvents aren’t added. Like pizza dough, the vinyl is rolled and stretched into the desired shape. This material is thicker and having been stretched, it tends to shrink.” — Are There Different Vinyl Graphics Materials?

Cast vinyl is best suited for full and partial wraps. It’s manufactured to be able to be stretched around complex curves whereas as calendar, or economy vinyl, isn’t. While economy vinyl may be appropriate for flat surface  applications it can lead to problems when used for more demanding installations.

Fonts

Does the font fit the style guide of your organization and is it easy to read? Is it the best size? “Any combination of font style, size, and color can and will affect the readability of vehicle graphics. The key to effective fleet graphic design is combining appearance with legibility. There are too many designs, which although visually striking, are difficult to decipher, which detracts from the purpose of vehicle advertising.” — What’s the Best Font for Vehicle Graphics?

Hierarchy

Is top billing given to your most important message? Are your priorities in line? “Before setting vehicle graphic design hierarchy in order, an organization must consider what messages take precedence, what is the hierarchy of your messages? What do you want to communicate and what do you want people to understand about your business.” —  Vehicle Graphic Design Hierarchy

Other Points to Consider

  • Do not sign and therefore approve a layout until every member of your team who has the authority to approve or disapprove the layout has reviewed it. Unfortunately, we’ve experienced producing an approved layout to learn a senior executive didn’t like it and wanted it changed.
  • Measure twice cut once. Don’t take a quick look at the layout and sign off. Take your time and review it completely and then review it again. It also might help to have others on your team proof it as well.

Don’t Sign Off Early

When a vehicle graphics provider sends a layout to a customer for approval, the sales and design team are asking, “Does this meet your expectations?” You should be certain it is what you want.

“Graphic design is a collaborative effort between designer and client. The client wants his vision brought to life through your talents, and it’s important to him that he gets what he wants.” —Sign Craft Magazine

When a layout is signed and approved, the design goes into production. Changes after a layout has gone into production can be costly and time-consuming.

When clients don’t take the time to thoroughly check and double check the layout, mistakes can happen. Before signing off on a layout, take enough time to check and recheck the seven points above, and then get the okay from everyone on your team who is involved. Hendricks Regional Health Community Paramedicine Wrap is a Life Saver

Here at TKO, we appreciate everything that Hendricks Regional Health does for the community. HGH is a lot more than outstanding medical facilities and a network of some of the best physicians in the state. They offer wellness programs including screening and scans, health and fitness classes (even yoga!) and information from childbirth e-Learning to living with diabetes. They are a part of the community, and community paramedicine is part of what they offer.

 What is Community Paramedicine?

“Imagine you or a loved one falls in your home, and there’s an injury, but it’s not an emergency. Or maybe you need help with oxygen therapy because you’re managing a chronic illness, but you can’t get to the hospital. What do you do?

Community paramedicine is for these types of situations. It connects you with the care you need when medical attention is required, but there isn’t an emergency. Community paramedics can come right to your home, and typically provide health assessments, therapy, assistance with medication and other services. This not only eases the burden on emergency medical services, but it also brings social service and healthcare professionals directly to you.” — Hendricks Regional Health Community Paramedicine

The Hendricks Regional Health Community Paramedicine Wrap

Unlike many organizational vehicles wraps the Hendricks Regional Health van isn’t cluttered with information. There’s no need for it. Detailed copy and multiple images would get in the way of identifying this vehicle. But, there’s more to it than a simple wrap. This vehicle graphic stands out. The brilliant bright green outlined in black flows from front to rear. It almost looks as if it’s moving when it’s sitting still. Even parked you can tell it’s ready for action. Finished off with the door decal including the branded H and Community Paramedics there’s no doubt the purpose of this vehicle. Overall the design inspires confidence. And isn’t that what you want from a Community Paramedic vehicle?

What Do Community Paramedics Do?

Probably the most familiar responsibility of community paramedics is emergency services – strokes, heart attacks, loss of consciousness, broken bones, allergic reactions and more. However, as much as paramedics are known for their emergency heroics, that’s only part of what they do. Paramedics also conduct in-home assessments, draw blood for labs, offer oxygen therapy, and much much more. Hendricks Regional Health Community Paramedicine is an invaluable part of the community in dozens of ways.

2 Brothers Pressure Washing — Effective Vehicle Graphics without Breaking the Bank

I know effective vehicle graphics when I see them. I was strolling through the TKO Graphix breakroom when I met Ernie Clemons and Isaac Badry. I introduced myself and asked if they were waiting on a vehicle. They were. More than one. They were having graphics installed on trucks and trailers. We chatted and then I offered to take them on a tour of our facilities. We ended up in the installation bay as our team of outstanding installers completed the graphics on their fleet vehicles. So, how do you create effective vehicle graphics without breaking the bank?

I commented that they were smart to purchase dark trucks, which made a perfect background to frame their logo and contact information. I went on to say that sometimes we wrap an entire vehicle when if the best color of car or truck had been ordered a full wrap wouldn’t be needed. For example, just the week before we completed a full warp with a black background over a white van.

Effective Vehicle Graphics without Breaking the Bank

Ernie and Isaac then shared that TKO Graphix COO, Denny Smith, had advised them of this. It’s why they decided on decals on their dark vehicles. Denny told them, that in their case decals would be cost-effective and as good for branding and marketing as a more expensive full wrap. I think Denny was correct, and so do Ernie and Isaac.

Who is 2 Brothers Pressure Washing?

To begin with, they’re two brothers, from different mothers. They’re brothers-in-law, which in our book is just about the same as two brothers – I mean they’ll be two uncles, right. And 2 Brothers Pressure Washing sounds a heck of a lot better than 2 Brothers-in-law Pressure Washing, don’t you think!?

Who Does 2 Brothers Pressure Washing help?

They handle jobs of all sizes and types. “For example: Commercial, Residential and Private. We are available to you at any time, Monday through Sunday. 24/7. Our hours are your hours. If something needs washed, we are there.”

What Do Customers Have to Say?

I Goggled 2 Brothers Pressure Washing and found 30 local reviews with an average of 5 stars! Here are what a few customers had to say about 2 Brothers Pressure Washing.

“Firefighter/Military owned and it shows! Everything looks great, I really can’t believe how clean it is!! We were looking for quality (no scary lines in the siding) and found it. Yay! They were knowledgeable and concerned with my needs. Hardworking and thorough. Very quality job! We will call again in the future. Thanks Two Brothers!”

“Two Brothers cleaned my house, deck, and driveway in freezing, miserable weather! I told them I was having company, and they promised to get my house clean before my guests arrived. Great guys! I will use them again. As someone else said, it’s obvious these guys are former military and currently serving as firefighters. Perfect job!”

“Not only are they quick and very reasonably priced, but the job they do is incredible! They transformed our gray retaining wall to look like brand new lumber! Our driveway, walk, and patio area is clean and continues to lighten a little with each rain, just as they explained. These guys know their stuff and did a fantastic job! They arrived on time and worked hard.”

More reviews

“On time, on budget and my house and driveway have never looked better. Kyle took the time to learn about the house before starting, explained what he was going to do and then walked the house with me when finished. I also greatly appreciated the follow-up call the day before so that I could plan my work schedule. I highly recommend this business.”

“Had Two Brothers out to the house again today. THESE GUYS ARE THE ABSOLUTE BEST. They came over with only a 1-day notice before a major holiday and once again, did a fantastic job. On time, on budget and the house looks amazing for Thanksgiving. Thank you again – especially given the holiday time crunch. Your company and customer service are the best. I wouldn’t use anyone else.”

Two Brothers Effective Vehicle Graphics

effective vehicle graphics

The plotter cut decals are perfectly matched to the 2 Brothers Pressure Washing trucks and trailers. By using contrasting light green and blue lettering the information pops. Easy to read fonts make the contact information highly accessible. 2 brothers Pressure Washing understands that vehicle graphics are more than identification, they’re advertising. And when fleet graphics are considered from an advertising perspective the question you must answer is, “What do you want to advertise?” Is it a special offer, unique sales position, service such as 24-hour customer service, product, or brand?

In the case of 2 Brothers Pressure Washing they kept it simple which is usually a good idea with fleet graphics because consumers may only have seconds to see the message. 2 Brothers focused on what they do, Pressure Washing, and how to contact them. It’s simple, straight forward, it works, and you don’t have to mortgage the house to get it done.

The Snappy Services pick-up truck wrap was a fun job to design, fabricate, and install. And Snappy Services is an excellent business to partner with. Thank you!

  • Water Lines
  • Drains
  • Sewers
  • Excavation
  • Sump Pumps
  • Rehabs
  • General Construction (Siding, Windows, Roofing)
  • Concrete” – Snappy Services

The Snappy Services Pick-Up Truck Wrap

The Snappy Services pick-up truck wrap is a full wrap. The first thing that captured my eye were the pipes. Pipes with connectors flow from front to back (or is it back to front? I’m not a plumber.) And not only do the pipes grab your attention but they send a message that this truck’s used for plumbing. That’s clarified by listing several of the services offered by Snappy Services.

I like how the phone number is displayed. It’s framed by an oblong background that’s placed obliquely over the black stripe that divides the cab which, is wrapped in white, and the bed which is wrapped blue. The contact information, web address and phone, are displayed on every side of the vehicle. They’re easy to find and easy to read with accessible fonts with good color contrast. This wrap is fun, informative, and complete. It gets the job done.

The Snappy Services pick-up truck wrap captures attention, shares a story, and sends a message. It’s call to action is clear and easy to find, Snappy Services is here to serve.

TKO Does More Than Vehicle Graphics

Yes, TKO does more than vehicle graphics, but Chief Sowers didn’t know that. I met Chief Sowers of the Covington, Indiana Police Department, while he was waiting for his patrol car to receive graphics. We chatted for a few minutes, and he told me TKO Graphix had produced and installed the graphics on all the forces vehicles for several years. It wasn’t until later learned that he didn’t know that TKO does more than vehicle graphics.

The Chief had visited TKO’s Plainfield facility at least ½ dozen times. I asked if he’d ever taken a tour. He hadn’t and told me he would enjoy that.

It Starts in Design

We began in our design department where I explained our staff of designers averaged more than 15 years’ experience. They specialize in getting the message delivered. With digital print, it’s easy to do too much and lose the message – not with our team. We drive your message home.

“Designing a three-dimensional graphic takes forethought, precision, and attention to detail. I remember a potential sponsor for an Indy car whose product came packaged in a bottle. Their creative team sent us a beautiful design for the race car with the bottle on the nose.

Their design shared every view of the race car. Unfortunately, it wouldn’t work. The manager of our design team, showed me by using a 3D template how the design would appear on the car. You couldn’t tell it was a bottle. A total redesign was called for; it needed our teams touch. With vehicle graphic design—there’s more than meets the eye.” — 5 Keys to Vehicle Graphic Design.

Next, we visited screen print. Most large format printers have gone 100 % digital. And although TKO has state of the art digital printers we also have a screen print department. Here’s why:

Lower Cost on Large Production Runs

Setup is a large part of the screen print cost. The cost of a few prints may be too expensive but dividing the cost by 100 prints may be more cost-effective than digital. Got a lot of printing to do? Is it limited to one or two colors? You might do better with screen print.

Solid Colors Without Pixelation

Digital prints use dots-per-inch, or “dpi.” Modern printers run from 350 dpi to 1200 dpi. When printing spot colors, screen print is a solid lay-down of color. If you need something that will be looked at closely screen print can be a good option.

Color Matching

“Do you need to match a specific company color, paint swatch, or hue? Screen printing offers a larger color gamut, which can nail colors dead-on.” — Digital or Screen What Should You Use?

Cups, Pens, Hats, and More

After that, we stopped in our promotional product division, TKO Marketing Solutions and looked at cups, pins, hats, shirts, and more. For me, this was a sign. I wondered how many valuable and loyal TKO customers had never toured our facility. And how many didn’t know we did more than vehicle graphics?

I want to make it my mission to get the word out to our customers. Not only because we’re in business and have more than one product, but because our customers deserve to know that a company they know and trust, who understands their needs, and has their artwork, can help them with more than vehicle graphics.

Our last stop was back to the installation Bay. Chief Sowers said hello to a couple of installers and then looked at me and said, “You know, what these installers do is an art.” I agreed. Over the last nine years, I’ve watched TKO Graphix installers at work. Most of the vehicle graphic installation I’ve watched has been in the bays at our Plainfield, IN facility, but occasionally I’ve observed their work at client’s locations. Regardless of where I’ve seen an installation, I’ve always been impressed by our crew’s attention to detail and their skill.

Installer, Applicator, or Artist?

When I hear the title installer, I picture someone putting in an air-conditioning unit or completing home remodeling, not installing vehicle graphics. Sometimes vehicle graphic installers are called applicators, and that may be closer to a descriptive title than installer. However, I have a title I believe best fits what our teams does. The title I believe fits better than installer or even applicator is artist.

If a Picture’s Worth a Thousand Words What’s A Video Worth?

If you watch the short video here, you will get a glimpse of what I mean. The video shows two tenured artists applying their chosen medium, adhesive vinyl graphics, to a Watchfire Signs Truck. As you watch the video notice the smooth even strokes as each applies their art to the vehicle. It reminds me of a painter with paintbrush applying layers of colors to a canvas.

Once again, the attention to detail is paramount, whether it’s gently applying heat or measuring the placement of the graphic. I don’t have the words to express clearly what this team does, but it’s more than following a procedure and marking points off a checklist – it’s artwork. And since I don’t have the words, I’ll let the camera do the talking.

If we can answer any questions for you or introduce you to our team of artists,  Contact Us, or stop in, you’re more than welcome to visit our art colony. So, what else can we help you with?

Covington Indiana, On the Banks of the Wabash

Covington Indiana sits due west of Indianapolis on US 36. The route goes through the middle of the town dividing north and south. Interstate 74 is just south of the city. When you enter the town, you’ll be greeted by a monument sign with “Welcome to Covington on the banks of the Wabash.” The Wabash River flows through the city limits on the west end of town. Covington is a picturesque town with many things to do.

The 2010 census showed 2,645 residents, 1120 households, and 712 families. 28 % of the population 18-years-old or younger.

The town was established as the Fountain county seat in 1827 one year after the county was formed.

One of the events Covington is known for is their annual Apple Fest. This year the Fest Falls on September 29th. Arts, crafts, food, and more will be displayed in more than 100 booths. Entertainment will perform on the courthouse pavilion stage from 10 am until 5 pm. It’s on my calendar – hope to see you there.

The Winslow Hypnosis Chevy Equinox Wrap Saves Lives

The Winslow Hypnosis Chevy Equinox wrap touched me when I saw it. Last week a friend told me about the passing of a former co-worker. She and her ex-husband had both worked under my leadership more than twenty years ago. I had lost touch with her a few years back but see her ex-husband often. I recalled a cookout in my backyard with just the four of us, and a Christmas party at my home. She was upbeat, positive, and quick to laugh, and now she was gone. COPD took her at 46 years of age.

When I knew her, she always had a cigarette in her hand. She never quit. As I understand it even in hospice, on oxygen, she continued to vape. When I received this news, I had just looked at the Winslow Hypnosis Chevy Equinox wrap. I couldn’t help but wonder, could hypnosis have saved Sheri’s Life?

A Long Term Smoker

“Sheri Medcalf was due to be released from respite care at the Abbie Hunt Bryce Home just days after her 46th birthday, but she never made it home. Medcalf was sitting on the patio off her room at the northeast-side care facility on a June day. She was tethered to an oxygen tank, sipping a Mountain Dew and smoking an e-cigarette. She had been transferred to the home for short-term recovery after being treated at Eskenazi Hospital for end-stage chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

This is my vice

“This is my vice,” she said, pointing to the Mountain Dew, “and vaping.” The latter helps her stay away from cigarettes. “If I would have kept smoking, I probably would have died by now.”

“I tried to quit many times. I would want a cigarette so bad I would cry. If I gave in and smoked, then I would cry too. But when it’s made completely clear to you that if you don’t stop now, you’re gonna die …”

The sentence hangs there, and she takes another drag on her e-cigarette.” — Indystar.com: Abbie Hunt Bryce Home offers kindness to longtime smoker

Why Hypnosis?

“World-renowned hospitals utilize hypnosis to help their patients remove unwanted habits and addictions, and to dial down or remove pain at will. Hypnosis Let’s You Retrain Your Brain. Modern science proves hypnosis can help you to gently retrain your brain to accept new wanted behaviors and emotions through the power of suggestion.” — Wall Street Journal: A new prognosis for pain care.

Why is this a good thing?

“Because our perception is how we experience the world, and emotions play a major role in how we formulate our perceptions. By working with a hypnotist with advanced training, you can scrub away old ideas and emotions and replace them with new ones. Including the most basic of all experiences – how you feel pain.” — Winslow Hypnosis

Who is Winslow Hypnosis?

Dr. Skye Winslow is a state and nationally Board Certified Medical Support Hypnotherapist (CMS-CHt). She is a graduate of the prestigious Hypnotherapy Academy of America. The Academy’s 500-hour classroom training program is one of the nation’s most demanding hypnosis training schools. In fact, HAA graduates are the only hypnotherapy graduates hired by the United States Veterans Association.  Dr. Winslow is a Fellow of the International Board of Hypnotherapy (FIBH).”  — About Winslow Hypnosis

The journey began with an illness

The story begins with the diagnosis of a tumor.

“I got sick really fast. The surgery went well, it was a benign tumor,” Winslow said. “But I had a lot of complications. I gained about 100 pounds in four months from all the steroids. I developed Cushing’s syndrome, so it collapsed my adrenal system. For 5 1/2  years, I traveled the country trying to help me find what would make me better … “I tried everything to get better I have a wall of (certifications) of these things that didn’t work.

I have significant balance issues and profound dizziness. It feels like I’m walking on a merry-go-round. I wanted to find a way to talk to that part of my brain that I’m not falling down, quit killing me. Nothing worked until she learned hypnosis provided relief, lowering her cortisol levels. Cortisol is a steroid hormone made by adrenal glands. “I am able to walk without thinking I’m falling,” Winslow said. “I can walk without a walker now.”

A TV Anchor

“Winslow, 57, met her husband, WTTV-4 anchor Bob Donaldson, when they both were working at a TV station in Beaumont, Texas. Winslow was an anchor on PM Magazine in Beaumont, Salt Lake City and Oklahoma City. She was a news anchor for the evening news in Terre Haute and worked as freelance fill-in anchor at both WTHR-13 and Fox 59” — — Finding balance: Former TV news anchor opens hypnosis practice to help herself, others

The Winslow Hypnosis Chevy Equinox Wrap

The purpose of a vehicle wrap is to grab attention, hold it, and share a message. That’s what the Winslow Hypnosis Chevy Equinox wrap does. The contact information, phone number at the top of the doors, website near the bottom. A clear call to action. “Stop Smoking with Hypnosis.” And the rear window graphics on this Chevy Equinox wrap send a message.

However, there is nothing clearer than a cigarette being ground out into the side of the vehicle. If that doesn’t grab your attention and send a message, I don’t know what will. Everything about this vehicle wrap works. I only wish my old friend Sheri had seen it and got the message.

If we can help you share your message like we did on the Hypnosis Chevy Equinox wrap, Let us know because there’s somebody out there that needs to hear it.

Less is More in Vehicle Graphic Design

Less is more in vehicle graphic design. However, every day I see vehicle wraps that miss this point. Today, with high tech digital printers and state of the art adhesive vinyl graphics it’s easy to go too far and lose the message. I get it – people want their vehicle graphics to pop, and they should. But not at the expense of the message. And that’s the point; the message comes first. In most cases, less is more in vehicle graphics, and that’s accomplished by putting the message front and foremost. Yes, less is more in vehicle graphic design.

Less is More in Vehicle Graphic Design

Your vehicle graphics only have five seconds or less to capture consumers’ attention. That’s not a large window of time so don’t go overboard with copy, images, and design. The adage KISS, Keep It Simple Stupid, holds true for vehicle graphics.

When designing graphics for a moving vehicle, less is more. Short and sweet, simple and to the point, are the keys to creating a vehicle graphic that does its job. And what’s that job? Its job is to capture people’s attention and then share a message. Too much information, too many words, multiple images, and distracting colors take away from the task at hand.

Cat Herding

Have you ever watched a TV commercial that grabbed your attention and then wondered who the sponsor was? I remember a Superbowl commercial from years ago about cat herding that was a brilliant and hilarious commercial, but to this day I don’t know who the sponsor was. I’ve always wondered if that very expensive television advertisement had a positive return on investment or negative.

Delivering the Message

It’s the same with vehicle graphics. What good is it if your wrap grabs attention, but no message is delivered? Think about this, the average person who sees your vehicle only views it for 4 to 6 seconds. Let’s do a little experiment. Look at the wall behind you and count to six. Okay, what did you see? What do you remember? And you’re sitting still (I hope you’re not driving!) just think if someone is driving and looking at your vehicle – all their attention isn’t focused on your car or truck. What do they see and remember in six seconds?

Less is More in Vehicle Graphic Design

Less is more in vehicle graphic design. “Less is more” is probably the most well-known catch phrase of the minimalist movement. It was popularized by architect Ludwig Mies van der Rohe in describing the minimalist aesthetic.” — Principles Of Minimalist Design

So, here’s the point, yes, less is more in vehicle graphic design, which means you need to know the message you want to send. Is it your 24-hour service, time in business, your contact information, brand, or logo? Could you use your brand colors and fonts to promote a call to action? Is there a special offer you want to advertise? Whatever it is you only have a few seconds to get your message across, so don’t clutter it with unneeded graphics. Because in vehicle graphic design less is more.

The Town and Country Homecenter Box Truck Wrap Works!

Last week I saw a box truck wrap taking shape. It was a new box truck recently added to the Country Homecenter fleet. It was fun to watch the transformation from plain white truck to rolling billboard.  The installation reminded me of the first time I’d seen this full box truck wrap for the Town and Country Homecenter.

A couple of years, while walking through the TKO Graphix installation bay I noticed a box truck. Our installers were removing the old decals from the truck. These included the DOT number, the businesses name, just basic identification.

After the vehicle was prepped, cleaned, and deidentified (removing the old adhesive vinyl graphics) our installation team began applying a full wrap. As I watched, it was like observing a butterfly emerge for a chrysalis. The Box truck was transformed into a marketing campaign. It was no longer only identification – it was advertising!

The old graphics shared very little information, no calls to action or taglines, limited contact information, and certainly no list of products and services. The new box truck full wrap was a marketing butterfly. If you see it on the roads in central Indiana it’s hard to miss. And not only is it hard to miss it’s hard to forget, and isn’t that what advertising at it’s best should accomplish?

The Box Truck Wrap

The box truck Wrap is a full wrap front to back using corporate branded colors, fonts, and logos. The phone number, address, and website are in plain sight and easy to read. To establish credibility and trust the Do it Best and Carpet One icons are shared, alongside the tagline, “Good advice at a Good Price.” It says it all with bold copy, broad bands, and exceptional color contrast.

Palmer Trucks Kenworth of Indy Fleet Graphics Share a Message

Take a look at the Kenworth of Indy fleet graphics if you’re considering fleet graphics for your business. Is it time for a rebrand or have you never gone further than basic information and identification on your cars and trucks? If so, the Palmer Trucks, Kenworth of Indy fleet graphics are an excellent example of how to advertise your services without losing your message. Here’s how the Kenworth of Indy fleet graphics came to life.

The Kenworth of Indy Fleet Graphics

The Wrap that Isn’t a Wrap

To begin with, it isn’t a wrap. Too often businesses believe they must wrap the entire vehicle to create an effective vehicle advertisement. Although there are times that a full wrap is the preferred method to market on fleet vehicles, it isn’t the only way or always the best way. The Kenworth pick up vehicle graphics are plotter cut decals designed to stand out against the white background of the pick-up truck.

The door of the truck shares who they are, Palmer Trucks, Kenworth of Indy, and directly below in letters that go from wheel well to wheel well we find the website. It’s hard to miss even when the truck is moving, and that’s great marketing. To be effective vehicle graphics don’t always have to be bright images and photos of happy clients. Sometimes too much design gets in the way of what’s important. And what’s important is that prospective clients know who you are, what you do, and how to contact you.

Near the rear of the truck is a bullet-pointed. I mean palm tree-pointed (how fun and effective is that?) list of what Palmer Trucks Kenworth of Indianapolis offers.

  • Sales
  • Service
  • Body Shop
  • Truck, Bus, & Trailer Parts
  • Truck Equipment
  • DPF Cleaning and Sales
  • CNG Service

This wrap gets the job done. It sends a message and gets the word out, and that’s what you want advertising to do, isn’t it?
